Part of my Friends of Ric Rac series — where I introduce you to brilliant makers and share a free pattern each month.
If you've been hanging around the crafty corners of the internet for a while, the name Craftapalooza is sure to ring a few bells. And if you're newer to the world of stitching, and handmade goodness — you're in for a treat.
Let me introduce you to Nic — the incredibly funny, wildly talented, and ever-so-slightly irreverent designer behind Craftapalooza Designs. I’ve known Nic virtually since the golden days of blogging (yes, that long ago!), and although we only met in real life just last year, it felt like catching up with an old friend. She’s one of those people who is exactly who she is — generous, hilarious, creative — and I’m absolutely thrilled to be kicking off the Dozen Eggs year by featuring her.
Nic's patterns are bold, bright, and full of character. They range from patchwork and appliqué to festive decorations, all with her signature style and clever construction. Whether it’s a pincushion that makes you smile or a holiday design that brightens your table, there's a joy to everything she makes.
You’ll find her work over at craftapalooza.com, and she shares her making, over on Instagram at @craftapalooza. You’ll also find a buzzing Facebook group where she and her community chat, share their makes, and encourage each other to just have a go.
For her Dozen Eggs freebie, Nic’s offering something perfectly her: clever, cheerful, and satisfying to make. kind of project that might make you abandon your current WIP. (Don't say I didn’t warn you.) Hexie Bloom is a sweet little potholder project designed for hand sewing and scrap-busting, with a blooming hexie vibe that is quick to stitch and genuinely satisfying to finish. It is a feel-good make for a practical item, and a lovely excuse to sit down for a few mindful stitches.
